This position is eligible for the EDRP, a student loan reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirement and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office. This position may be eligible for a Recruitment Incentive. HOSPITALIST DUTIES Duties will include but are not limited to: Provide comprehensive patient care in the form of consultative inpatient care. Manage patients with ongoing medical conditions both in the acute care and intensive care inpatient settings, in collaboration with other services of the LAJVAMC. Interview, examine, selects diagnostic testing appropriately, and interprets/collates results to coordinate patient care at all points in the process from admission to discharge. Communicates and documents with clarity to patients and medical personnel to coordinate patient care. Work in conjunction with mid-level providers. Procedural skills may include EKG interpretation, TPA administration, and simple vent management. Consultative input to other service lines in inpatient care. Participate in Committee Structure. Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rule and Regulations of the Medical Staff. Refer patients to subspecialists or other professionals as appropriate. Patient discharge summaries to be signed within 7 days. Other duties as the in-house medicine attending physician, which include but are not limited to addressing requests for transfer to Medicine Service from outside facilities and urgent/emergent general medicine consults Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 7 days on/7 days off, 12 hour shifts from 7AM or 7PM. Shifts may include nights, days, weekends and holidays.
