JOB TITLE: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: To provide a wide variety of quality ultrasound exams to the community under the supervision of our cardiologist and radiologist in a private practice setting.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Ultrasound Manager
RESPONSIBILITES:
Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of ultrasound equipment
Provides high quality imaging to the radiologist/cardiologist
Provides excellent patient care
Responsible for the proper care of supplies and equipment in the ultrasound area
Other duties as assigned
The jobholder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.
EDUCATION:
Must be a graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or approved Radiologic Technology Program with specialized training in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
One to Two years of experience in General, Vascular and/or Echo preferred.
ARDMS (AB), RVT/RVS, RDCS/RCS.
Maintain appropriate continuing medical education for licensure and accreditation guidelines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Varied activities include sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending and reaching. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and lift 50 pounds. Occasional stress from workload. Must be able to use a variety of equipment including ultrasound machine, ABI, PACS, phone and fax.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ WORKING CONDITIONS:
Combination of office and exam offices. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances and medicinal preparations. Hepatitis B vaccination and TB test required.
