Position Highlights
As a Staff Anesthesiologist at Martinsburg VA Medical Center, you will provide comprehensive perioperative medical care, anesthesia services, pain management, and critical care support to our Veteran population.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments and anesthesia risk evaluations
Order and interpret laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic studies related to anesthetic management
Obtain informed consent and optimize patients for surgery and procedures
Administer general, regional, neuraxial, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and sedation services
Manage airways, including advanced airway procedures and intubation
Monitor physiologic parameters and adjust anesthetic plans throughout procedures
Perform invasive monitoring, including arterial and central venous catheter placement
Manage intraoperative fluid, electrolyte, and blood product therapy
Provide post-anesthesia care in PACU and ICU settings
Perform acute and chronic pain evaluations and management
Administer multimodal analgesia, epidural therapy, peripheral nerve blocks, and PCA management
Provide anesthesia services outside the operating room, including procedural suites, endoscopy, interventional radiology, and cardiac catheterization laboratories
Lead and participate in perioperative emergency response and resuscitation efforts
Provide ventilatory and hemodynamic support for critically ill patients
Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs, residents, and medical students
Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
