Position Highlights
As a Staff Anesthesiologist at Martinsburg VA Medical Center, you will provide comprehensive perioperative medical care, anesthesia services, pain management, and critical care support to our Veteran population.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments and anesthesia risk evaluations
- Order and interpret laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic studies related to anesthetic management
- Obtain informed consent and optimize patients for surgery and procedures
- Administer general, regional, neuraxial, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and sedation services
- Manage airways, including advanced airway procedures and intubation
- Monitor physiologic parameters and adjust anesthetic plans throughout procedures
- Perform invasive monitoring, including arterial and central venous catheter placement
- Manage intraoperative fluid, electrolyte, and blood product therapy
- Provide post-anesthesia care in PACU and ICU settings
- Perform acute and chronic pain evaluations and management
- Administer multimodal analgesia, epidural therapy, peripheral nerve blocks, and PCA management
- Provide anesthesia services outside the operating room, including procedural suites, endoscopy, interventional radiology, and cardiac catheterization laboratories
- Lead and participate in perioperative emergency response and resuscitation efforts
- Provide ventilatory and hemodynamic support for critically ill patients
- Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs, residents, and medical students
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
