The Millington Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) has an opening for a psychiatrist that offers a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). The CBOC is a part of the Department of Veterans Affairs and falls under the Memphis VA Medical Center. It’s one of the largest of twelve community-based clinics within the Memphis VA clinical network.
The Memphis VA is a 1a complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The main campus provides comprehensive care to almost 69,000 Veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in vast areas of medicine, to include but not limited to cardiology, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, geriatrics, women’s health, and dentistry.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Provide support for same-day access to mental health services for Veterans in person and by telephone.
Ability to work with multiple disciplines and collaborate with mid-level providers consistent with licensure and credentialing.
Fulfill after hours, weekend and holiday general psychiatry on-call duties in rotation with other psychiatrists and may be called upon for service wide cross-coverage when necessary to maintain facility psychiatric service requirements.
Ability to effectively provide comprehensive general psychiatric services. Experience with consultation and psychosomatic medicine is preferred.
Skilled in interpersonal relationships, including conflict resolution and the ability to work collaboratively with other service lines and departments.
Ability to deal effectively with individuals or groups representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view.
Knowledge of and commitment to the goals and objectives of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Adequate technology skills to efficiently utilize electronic records for patient care and for basic office electronic documentation and communication.

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri: 8AM-4:30PM, Periodic On-call
